naturopathy for arthritis

What are symptoms of arthritis?

With arthritis you suffer from pain, swelling, stiffness and deformity of the joints. This can appear suddenly or gradually worsen.  Your pain might be very sharp and burning or dull and aching.

There are two forms of arthritis…

This affects your weight bearing joints like your knees, hips and ankles, and tends to be more common in older people. It is caused by the destruction of cartilage which cushions the joints.

The smooth surface of your cartilage becomes rough and this results in friction, your joint becomes deformed, painful and stiff and the muscles holding your joint together become weak.

Rheumatoid arthritis (R.A.)

This form of arthritis effects the lubricating mechanism and cushioning of your joints. Bone surfaces are destroyed and your bones fuse together creating stiffness, swelling, fatigue and crippling pain.

Neither form of Arthritis is a natural part of the ageing process.  Arthritis is an auto-immune disease and requires treatment.

Digestive problems cause arthritis.  A cocktail of parasites, pathological bacteria, Candidiasis, food intolerances and lack the healthy gut microbiota all play a part.

What Causes Arthritis?

Digestive problems cause arthritis.  Studies have found that people with arthritis have a cocktail of parasites, pathological bacteria, Candidiasis, food intolerances and lack the healthy gut microbiota.1 Again, digestive health plays an important role.

Traditional treatments involving anti-rheumatic drugs and corticosteroids can actually cause arthritis and also lead to serious systemic parasitic overload and serious medical conditions if parasitic infection is the cause of the painful joints.1

Chronic Stress, Immune Dysregulation and Health2 is a paper that links chronic stress with auto-immune diseases.  The researchers defined stress in the following way: “stress occurs when environmental demands exceed the individual’s capacity to cope.”  So anything that throws your body out of balance is a stressor, whether over training, a leaky gut, insomnia, or the breakup of a relationship.

A high sugar diet is a stressor, it raises insulin, which is pro-inflammatory, and sugar damages your gut microbiota.  Chronic stress raises your cortisol levels, which is also pro-inflammatory.  Distress of any kind causes stress3, and chronic stress causes inflammation, and inflammation is behind every modern disease from arthritis to cancer3.
